Amis du Monde with their new FA jackets

"Football is not a matter of life and death, it is more important than that."

Bill Shankly, Liverpool Football manager

2009 visit

Stuart was in Togo in January 2009 visiting the Centre de Formation de Football Féminin in Lomé, the capital. Their team is called Amis du Monde (Friends of the World)

Thanks to the generosity of friends, the Football Association and the Berks and Bucks Football Association, he was able to take with him.

26 pairs of Nike football boots;

A complete set of kit for a team;

45 Training jackets;

13 footballs;

20 England shirts.

Stuart was really impressed with the girls' football project. He saw them train with 28 girls present - some others had school commitments - and was able to talk about how to apply to Jesus' words about loving our neighbour to football. The training was well organized and done very professionally. He also saw them play on the Saturday in the old national stadium. They were pretty skilful players and won 2-0.

It is expected that the partnership between Verité Sport and Aimé the director of Centre de Formation de Football Féminin will continue.
