"Lord, I don't ask that I should win, but please, please don't let me finish behind Akabusi."

Innocent Egbunike's prayer at the 1988 Olympics

About

For some people sport is a hobby, for others a job. For many of us, it is a passion. When we win we are excited, when we lose it is as if the world has come to an end. Sport is also a multi-million business. It is an activity, which can galvanize the nation but can also divide us as we all have an opinion!

As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that sport is part of God's creation. God has made us with the ability to compete in and enjoy sport. The words attributed to Eric Liddell in the film, Chariots of Fire, sum it up well - "God made me for a purpose but he also made me fast and when I run, I feel his pleasure".

Verité Sport exists to promote a Christian presence in sport, to take the teachings of the Bible (God's Holy Word) and to apply them to sport. While Verité Sport is a new missionary organization, its Executive Director, Stuart Weir, has been involved in Sports ministry for over 25 years.
