"I love the sense of satisfaction that I get when I’ve done a swimming workout or race, and know that I gave my whole being and heart to God in every moment of the swim. It’s the best worship I can offer him."
New Year
A new year has just started. What new thing would you like this year? A new contract, a new club, a new job or, away from sport, a new car or a new house perhaps?
In Revelation 21:5, Jesus makes an amazing promise "I am making everything new." As we read the New Testament, there are least 10 examples of new things which God promises us.
a new life (Romans 6:4)
a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17
a new self (Colossians 3:10, Ephesians 4:24)
a new covenant (Hebrews 9:15, 1 Corinthians 11:25; Luke 22:20)
a new birth into a living hope (1 Peter 1:3)
a new command (1 John 2:7, John 13:34)
a new name (Revelation 2:17)
a new song (Revelation 5:9)
a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21:1, 2 Peter 3:13)
As we commence this new year with all its uncertainties - and is there a world with more uncertainties than sport? Let us resolve to look for our new things from the one who has promised to make everything new.
