THE LORD is my strength

I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habakkuk 3:19

Habakkuk is generally believed to have been written in the 7th century BC but it still contains timeless truth. Last week we noticed how Habakkuk acknowledged God’s fame. This week we see how the prophet applies God’s greatness to his own situation. He sees God as a source of strength. Anyone who is a runner will like the idea of God making your feet like the feet of a deer – well I think you will!

Joy is at the heart of his relationship with God . That is a challenge to all of us. It a world where so many people seem angry, dissatisfied and stressed, God’s people are called to be joyful. We can be full of joy because we know God and He is our strength.
