"It matters a great deal who is going to win, but not at all who won"
Inspiration
The spirit that God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love and self-discipline 2 Tim 1:7“The Holy Spirit gives us power to do anything and it is from him we draw our inspiration to be an inspiration to others”. Sarah-Jane Alley.
When we are creative in our sport we mirror the creative gifts of God the creator. By using our creative gifts for God’s glory we offer him worship. In a true sense the way we play is inspired by God.
We are also to be an inspiration for Christ in the world of sport. We are to be role models for our younger team-mates. We are to encourage them and set them an example. There are so many negative influences in the world. Let us be the positive anti-dote.
In our sports ministry, evangelism and Christian service generally, we are to be inspirational leaders, setting an example to those around us.
A recent biography of the (Christian) founder of the Football League was called “The inspirational William McGregor”. What an epitaph!
