“Knowing Christ is the best thing that has ever happened to me, although winning the US Open was a pretty good second.”

Characteristics of the Christian

To be peaceable and considerate and always be gentle towards everyone Titus 3:2

I am often struck how practical the gospel is! If I asked you, “what are the characteristics of a strong Christian”, you might reply: “A person with a good Bible knowledge or someone who is always witnessing to others”. And that is a good answer.

However, Paul’s answer is much more practical – peaceable, considerate and gentle. In a word -“Christlike”. In any group of people there always seems to be a difficult person. People who are peaceable, considerate and gentle are a joy to be with.

Paul is not saying that you are to grit your teeth and through a determined act of will, try to be considerate. No, Paul is saying that with the Spirit of Jesus within you an attitude of peace, consideration and gentleness is a natural outworking. It is the person of Jesus flowing out through you.

As we represent Jesus in our club, team or training group, let us ask Him to make us peaceable and considerate and always be gentle towards everyone today.
