Mark Chester, Abingdon, BRF 2015. ISBN 978 1 84101 654 2

Mark Chester is a pioneer of Christian ministry to fathers. See for example his book “Who let the dads out (BRF 2012).

This book is an account of his life and the role football played in it. It is poignantly dedicated to a friend who died at Hillsborough. Mark worked for Liverpool FC for a number of years, something which strangely is not mentioned in the book.

The second half of the book is what the author calls “a series of reflections on life an the Christian faith, which take football as their starting point” - a kind of object lessons from football to faith and life.

I was not convinced that the two halves of the book really fitted well together.
