God’s answer to Moses in the early verses of chapter 6 are not particularly what Moses WANTS to hear but are very definitely what he NEEDS to hear.
If you have time read Exodus 6:2-8 and note how the verses are bookended by “I am the LORD”. Four times Moses is reminded that the Lord is God and that He is good
V3 God also said to Moses, ‘I am the LORD. V6 Therefore, say to the Israelites: “I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians”.
There is a further promise in v 7: “you will know that I am the LORD”.
