Peace rules

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Colossians 3:15

Jesus is the source of peace and the true giver of peace. He once said to his disciples: I have told you these things that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

I don’t think many people on the planet would disagree with Jesus that “in this world you will have trouble”. And in sport trouble comes in so many different forms – injury, disappointment, conflict etc.

But people who know God have the promise of peace to see them through the troubles. In Philippians, Paul calls him The God of peace. Note too it is not just having peace in our lives but letting the peace rule our lives. In the same book Paul promises us that “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. Philippians 4:9

In the midst of the turmoil and challenge that this world brings let us not only ask God for his peace but seek to be people who bring peace to our team, club or training group.
