"Football is not a matter of life and death, it is more important than that."

Bill Shankly, Liverpool Football manager

Heaven

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2

Do you ever wonder what the Father’s house will be like? I used the word “heaven” in the title but the Bible talks of a new heaven and a new earth. For those of us who love this world – I mean the natural world that God has created with all its natural beauty – the idea of a new earth is quite exciting. The idea of Jesus preparing it for us is mind-blowing!

“What the kingdom of God is like. …’here will be no fighting, no fear, no farewells and no funerals. There’ll be no broken homes and no broken hearts. We won’t need hospitals and we won’t even need house-keys, because everything will be the way the King wants it to be. And, best of all, the people will be the way the King wants them to be”. (Real Life Jesus by Mike Cain)

What an amazing prospect! And it lasts forever. We have a saying “all good things come to an end”. We go to a beautiful place to rest and relax but we know that in a week or two weeks we must return home. Imagine going to the most beautiful place possible and staying there forever. (Don’t imagine it; believe what God says!) That somewhere can be exciting enough that it will satisfy us forever, is something that only our God could create.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Try to remember that when you go and train or compete today!
