Seventh commandment

There is in principle no reason why the temptation to sexual sin should be any more common in sport than anywhere else. Perhaps it isn't. But as I observe the world of sport, sinful sexual activity is prevalent.

Players often have trained attractive bodies. If you are in professional sport there is the added kudos of fame and money to make you more desirable. The temptation is perhaps no stronger, but the opportunity is much greater. Darryl Dawkins former Philadelphia 76ers NBA star claimed to have slept with more than 1000 women.

We must recognize the areas in which we are vulnerable and take appropriate action. We need to avoid situations of particular temptation. We need to have friends to whom we are accountable. We need to be honest with ourselves and with them. Never think 'it could never happen to me'.

This may be the shortest devotional I have written but it is certainly not the least important.
